1954 - 2024

HOLYOKE- William Saltares, 70, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.  William was born February 12, 1954, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, A son of the late Francisco Saltares and Elsie Vargas. He grew up and was educated in Brooklyn, NY. William was a positive person who loved the outdoors, he was also a highly active person, he enjoyed the outdoors, experiencing God’s creations, bike riding, dancing, listening to music and playing his keyboard.  William lived with intention, he demonstrated this by leaving his legacy of starting the Vargas family reunion in Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY. His passion was keeping his family united.  Whether working or spending time with his family, it was always an adventure for William.  He leaves an impression in our hearts and minds to never be forgotten. William was succeeded in death by two sisters, Elise Saltares, Flordeliz Vargas and two brothers, Francisco Saltares and Santiago Vargas. He will be missed by his four children, Tania Saltares, Lisa Saltares, William Saltares and a daughter along with his 11 adored grandchildren, Joseph, Carlos, Joel, Natalie, Jomar, Yaviel, Joelimar (Ania), Haiely, Daevian, Karina and Ryan Sansouci, his sister Idalia Saltares and brother Carlos Vargas. He also leaves extended family and an abundance of friends to cherish his memory. A celebration of life for William will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 5:00 to8:00 PM at La Rosa Funeral Home, 254 Main St., Holyoke, MA.
