MALTIDA GONZALEZ Obituary

In Loving Memory of Matilda Joann Gonzalez

October 11, 1941 – September 9, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Matilda Joann Gonzalez, a beloved matriarch whose warmth and devotion shaped generations. Born on October 11, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Matilda’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Matilda married, Cecilio Gonzalez, with whom she shared a partnership marked by duty and a shared purpose. Together, they raised seven children—Alfred Gonzales, Lenny Gonzalez (d. 1972), William Webb, Jesus Gonzalez, Mary Gonzalez, Cecilio Gonzalez Jr., and Joseph Gonzalez—instilling in them the values of hard work, and unity. Cecilio preceded Matilda in death, yet their legacy endures in the family they nurtured side by side.

Her devotion to her children knew no bounds; there was nothing she would not do for them. Matilda’s love expressed itself most profoundly around the family table, where she orchestrated meals that became the heart of every gathering. Her kitchen was a place of joy and comfort, filled with the aromas of her cherished recipes and the laughter of loved ones. Cooking was her art, and each dinner was a celebration of togetherness.

She was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and the joyful great-grandmother of ten great-grandchildren. Her love will echo through each generation, her wisdom and kindness leaving indelible marks on the lives she touched.

She is lovingly remembered not only by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but also by her devoted partner, Jose Floran, who stood by her side in recent years, offering companionship and support.

Matilda’s legacy is one of boundless generosity, fierce love, and the simple beauty of family traditions. Her memory will live on in every story shared over a meal, in the laughter that fills her family’s home, and in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.

She will be deeply missed, but the warmth of her spirit will remain forever present in the lives she nurtured, and the memories cherished.

May Matilda Joann Gonzalez rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
