CARMEN APONTE

Carmen Aponte, 87 entered into eternal peace on Saturday October 22, 2022. She was born and raised in Vieques, Puerto Rico on July 29, 1935. Carmen was the daughter of the late Sofia Cardona and Pedro Villafane. Carmen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who had a heart of gold and will forever be in our hearts. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Raul Aponte to whom she was married for 57 years. She was a nurturing homemaker who took care of so many children throughout the years. If you knew her, you knew her hair had to be done every Saturday and don’t you dare touch her hair. She had a spunk like no other.  She adored and cherished her family and loved spending as much time with them as she could. She was one of 4 siblings, and predeceased by sister Luz Villafane of Vieques PR, brother Pedro Villafane of Fajardo, PR and Luis Villafane from Bronx, NY. She is also survived by her son Harry Aponte of Holyoke, MA, daughters Nancy Butler and husband Craig Butler of Broad Brook, CT and Wanda Aponte of Holyoke, MA. Three grandchildren Brandy Grant and husband Shane Grant, Lauren Butler, Shane Butler and two great granddaughters Layla Grant and Avery Grant. The family will receive relatives and friends during visitation hours on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at La Rosa Funeral Home, 254 Main Street Holyoke, MA 01040.
