Rosa (Escalera) Miranda, 74, died peacefully at the Palmer Health Care Center on Saturday, October 24, 2020. The beloved daughter of the late Aurea Hernandez and late Sebastian Escalera was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on February 20, 1946. She was raised and attended local schools in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. In 1979, she married the love of her life, her husband of 41 years Carlos Miranda and made their home in Holyoke, Massachusetts where they raised their son Gabriel Miranda.  Rosa was a nurse’s aide, she worked in the healthcare industry for many years and was always involved in caring, family-oriented fields. She was employed by the Holyoke Public Schools, Holyoke Gas and Electric, Pratt & Austin and the Holyoke Soldier’s Home. Rosa was one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Throughout her life she was known to be loving, compassionate and fiercely devoted to her family. Rosa helped raise her siblings and many nieces and nephews. She freely offered sincere kindness to anyone who came into her life. Rosa was a hardworking woman of faith who spent countless hours volunteering in the community churches and events in the community of Holyoke. She was predeceased in death by her brother Miguel Escalera. Rosa is survived by her husband Carlos Miranda; son, Gabriel Miranda, and his wife Terra; sister, Iris Correa; two brothers, Guillermo Escalera, Hector Escalera and two adored granddaughters, Lianna Miranda, Aria Miranda. She will be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, many dear friends, and extended family members.
